Alex's birthday is TOMORROW!!

This time last year the contractions were getting pretty evil and we were thinking about heading to the hospital. Scary how time flies!

So I've decided to give Typepad a try to see if I prefer it over Livejournal. The main reason being that you can't comment at LJ unless you're a member, which is highly annoying. I also think their site is a bit easier to navigate and so far, no down time! I'll keep linking my posts here so everyone know when I update. Eventually my goal is to just have my blog at mandajuice.delbuono.com and call it good, but that takes some geek gene and we all know that one skipped right past me.

The new mandajuice can be found HERE.  Let me know what you think!

Some days are harder than others. Like when the boy smells like ripe nectarines and cinnamon and he's all snuggly in his airlplane jammies and tiny wisps of his sugary hair are sticking up in the sunlight and he's showing off by teetering along from the kitchen to the family room and then giggling and u-turning on his chubby toes to chase me. And he waves bye bye to me with two hands and one foot while I try to leave for the third time.

I am starting to mourn his babyness. It's almost gone now and I can't help but cry when I think about it. At this time last year I was finally starting to show and counting the weeks until his arrival. Now he's walking. I've never wanted to slow time down so badly. I wish I could install a new operating system that would only run on treadmill time. Then these moments could amble along like molasses and I'd never miss a second. I feel like we're racing through life just trying to keep up.

Dave worked almost until midnight last night and will most likely do so again tonight. I miss him. I miss my boy all day. It leaves me with questions. Like, remind me again why we're running this race?  Where is the finish line?  And what do we get when we cross it?

Friday was IKEA day - including a nice trip to Dave's office during which the boy (after being disrupted from his afternoon nap) would NOT walk. Not ONE step. He was awfully cute in his unwalkingness, though, so he was easily forgiven. Nothing on my IKEA list was in stock except the meatballs and $1 frozen yogurt, which totally made up for their "temporarily over-sold" highchair.

Saturday the boy was an angel while I did all my no-fun shopping. He aced his way through not one, but FIVE whole stores before falling asleep just as we got home. (Target #1, Mervyn's, Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, Safeway) After Dave had spent the entire day working on the garage, my parents joined us for dinner. It was delightful and worth noting that unlike my Spanish, my cooking skills haven't diminished from lack-of-use. My mustard porkloin and salty roasted potatoes were far better than I expected - even if served on paper plates with plastic cutlery.  It felt good to be able to entertain in my home for a change!

Sunday the boy endured yet more shopping with mom - Target #2, Circuit City, Bed Bath n Bitching, Home Despot.  This time he melted down on our way home with the 8 foot curtain rods teetering over his carseat.  I could practically hear him saying "Enough Damn Shopping Already" through his screams.  Poor kid!

Mr. Pants has decided that he MUST nurse in intervals that are no more than 90 minutes apart.  All. Night. Long.  Lack of sleep is starting to catch up with me again and my brain feels all wooly.  We may have to attempt the dreaded "crying it out" routine - even though it breaks my heart.

By last night I was just beat.  I spent most of the evening with my butt glued to the couch while the boy roamed around the living room chasing the dog, playing his mini-piano, making up words, walking up to me every 10 minutes or so to check in - pulling my hair or yanking off my glasses.  I love it SO much that he is able to entertain himself so well.  It has much to do with the new-condo setup.  Very little is off-limits and the freedom is a thrill.

We are so damn lucky.
